Lion of Judah

Lion of Judah

This piece was created when asked to create a work to raise scholarship money for the Belmont University Art Department. The challenge was that each artist was given paper the size of a post card to create his or her work. I was excited about the challenge and wanted to make an amazing little masterpiece on that small paper. After weeks of prayer, sketching, and waiting, the “Lion of Judah” came to me soon before it was due. When I started the final, it only took a couple hours to finish. I hope you enjoy.

I love the image of a Lion as Christ; of His strength, bravery, royalty, and being untamable. The full spectrum of colors represent to me His omniscence. Him being all the colors and insight and presence into everything in our lives. And, his eyes stare straight toward us, always watching and intimately focus and involved in the lives of his beloved-us.
